HAIR CARE
Some useful tips and products to keep your wig looking flawless
PUTTING ON YOUR WIG
-
Make sure your hair is braided down flat as possible and is suitable for the style you will be wearing.
-
Turn the wig upside down; using your fingers, expand the sides and place your head into it (keeping the wig upside down).
-
Adjust the wig so that is it sitting in the position you desire. If there is a parting, make sure that it is in line with the parting in your braids.
-
If you would like to tighten the wig, look for the two straps on the sides and use them to adjust the sizing.
-
Style as desired.
APPLYING A FRONTAL
-
Ensure all strands of hair are away from your face and forehead area and clip the frontal back, away from your hairline.
-
Clean the area where the glue will be applied, using wipes or rubbing alcohol.
-
Apply your desired adhesive (Got2be / Lace glue etc.) and wait for it to become tacky (or turn clear if it's lace glue).
-
Place down the lace on the area with adhesive and press the lace down using a tail comb.
-
Style baby hairs as desired and apply a scarf to lay your frontal.
WASHING YOUR WIG
-
Detangle the hair throughout using a paddle brush. (For curly hair - section into 4).
-
Shampoo the hair from the root to tip, using your fingers to distribute the product. (Throughout the process place your hand inside the wig and hold it upright in order to preserve the shape.)
-
Repeat the above twice, then towel dry to remove the excess water.
-
Apply a generous amount of deep conditioner/hair masque, starting from the tips and working your way up to the roots using your fingers to distribute the product.
-
Wrap the wig tightly in some cling film (alternatively, you can use plastic bag) and leave to sit for a few hours.
-
Remove the cling film and rinse thoroughly, ensuring all the product has been rinsed out.
-
Leave to air dry on a mannequin head until both the hair and the mesh cap are completely dry. (Make sure you redefine any partings that the wig may have).
-
Style as desired.
REMOVING EXCESS ADHESIVE FROM LACE
-
Apply some shampoo onto a damp toothbrush and use to scrub the lace gently in a circular motion.
-
Rinse off and repeat until all the excess adhesive has been removed.
